Anna Zervopoulou
Anna was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She graduated from the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 1995 and proceeded with her studies as a PhD candidate at the Civil Engineering Department of AUTH in “Research of brittle tectonics and ground water movement in carbonate rocks”. In 2002 she finished her M.Sc. in “Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” at the Civil Engineering Department of AUTH. Since November 2010 she holds a PhD in Urban Geology from the Laboratory of Geology in the Department of Geology of the AUTH. Her PhD Thesis subject was: “Neotectonic faults of the broader area of Thessaloniki and foundation on them”. At 2021 she ended a Postdoctoral Research in Urban geology "Urban and Structural geology in the metropolitan area of Thessaloniki - Seismic Hazard Assessment using geological data"
Her research interest lies in urban geology, active tectonics, tectonic geomorphology and engineering geology. She is specialized in GIS applications and AutoCAD mapping.
She has participated in more than 30 conferences, workshops and seminars in Greece and abroad. She has published more than 15 papers and posters. She speaks English and German.
Since 1996, she has been working as a research team member for 15 programs of the Research Committee at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Geology and Civil Engineering departments). During the same period she has also performed numerous Hydrogeological and Environmental studies, as well as Geotechnical studies and Construction projects (tunnels, dams, roads). For 10 years she is was working for the Thessaloniki Metro Construction as a geologist at the Geomonitoring Department. Since 2020 she works as a High School teacher at Ministry of Education.
