Who we are

Our team is comprised by a group of specialists with multidisciplinary experience spanning several subjects and applied in several countries.

Spyros Pavlides

Picture
Spyros Pavlides is a full Professor of Neotectonics at the Department of Geology (AUTh). He is mainly active in the fields of neotectonics and earthquake geology, on which he has published extensively. He teaches courses and supervises graduate and postgraduate theses on those subjects, while he has served in various high-level administrative positions, both in the University as well as in other organizations.

Alexandros Chatzipetros

Picture
Alex has mainly worked on active tectonics of the broader Aegean region. His research interests include paleoseismology, morpho-tectonics, earthquake ground effects and neotectonics. He teaches various graduate and postgraduate courses related to neotectonics, structural geology and mapping. He has also served as an EC evaluator for various earth science and innovation projects.

Riccardo Caputo

Picture
Riccardo Caputo is Professor of Earthquake Geology and Structural Geology at the Department of Earth Sciences of the Ferrara University. His researches mainly focus on Neotectonics, Earthquake Geology and Rock Mechanics, on which he has published extensively. He worked in many sectors of the broader Aegean Region as well as in the Southern Alps, Apennines and Japan. He teaches various graduate and postgraduate courses and supervised numerous geological theses. He was/is involved in several national and international scientific projects

George Papathanassiou

Picture
George is specialized in engineering geology, laboratory tests for the evaluation of the soil properties and landslide hazard analysis.  The research area of his PhD thesis has been the investigation of liquefaction phenomena in the broader Aegean region and the development of a new engineering geology-based technique regarding the liquefaction susceptibility of soil layers.

Sotiris Valkaniotis

Stratos Delogkos

Picture
Sotiris is a PostDoctoral Fellow in Aristotle University. His research work is focused on active tectonics, paleoseismology, tectonic geomor-phology and archaeoseismology. He specializes in the application of GIS in field mapping, structural geology and tectonic geomorphology. Other research interests include study of secondary earthquake effects (landslides, rockfalls and liquefaction pheno-mena), hydrogeological evaluation of sedimentary aquifers and neotectonics of the Aegean Volcanic Arc.

Picture
Stratos is a geologist with extensive experience in the 3D modelling of the geological structures based on the integration of field, geophysical and drillhole data. He has strong 3D observational and modelling skills and hands-on experience with most of the industry-standard software and practices. His work focuses on understanding the evolution and the 3D structure of faults and their significance in the sustainable exploitation of natural resources and earthquake behaviour.

Anna Zervopoulou

Picture

Anna holds a PhD in Urban Geology of Thessaloniki and a Master degree in Environmental Protection & Sustainable Development. Her research interests include geology and active tectonics in urban sites, tectonic geomorphology and engineering geology. She specializes in applications of GIS and AutoCAD. She worked in Thessaloniki’s Metro Construction and now she works as a high school teacher.

Anastasia Michailidou

Picture
Anastasia is a PhD candidate in Geology department of the Aristotle University. The MSc Degree and its scientific research focuses on active tectonics, tectonic geomorphology and archaeoseismology. She is a specialist in GIS applications and mapping. She has performed numerous hydrogeological and environmental studies and studies of geological suitability.
