George Papathanassiou

George was born in Thessaloniki, Greece the 23rd October 1973. He graduated from the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1996. Through a curriculum of more than fifty courses he obtained a comprehensive background of basic and applied geology. He proceeded with his studies towards a M.Sc. Degree in Applied Geology at the same university. During his studies he specialized in engineering geology, laboratory tests for the evaluation of the soil properties and landslide hazard analysis. In February 2001 he was accepted as a Ph.D student in the Laboratory of Geology in the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research work dealt with soil liquefaction, landslide hazard assessment, engineering and earthquake geology and has been realized in the laboratory of Engineering Geology of the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Articles regarding his research activity were published in international journals and proceedings.
